Meet our December Spotlight Members

 
 
 

Our December general contractor spotlight is Merit Construction, Inc. A commercial Construction Manager/General Contractor located in Knoxville, Tennessee, Merit was organized in September 1982 and was initially formed as the merit shop subsidiary of a larger construction company which operated, at the time, as a union shop organization.  Merit is regularly recognized by the Knoxville Business Journal’s Book of Lists as one of the leading construction firms in the region.  In 2008 Merit was the winner of the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce’s Pinnacle Award which is awarded to a company headquartered in East Tennessee that has shown, among other things, remarkable growth, and stability.  In recent years, Merit has been named one of the top construction firms in the United States by the Engineering News Record.  Merit’s annual revenues average in excess of $100 million and their focus is on commercial and institutional projects throughout East Tennessee.  Significant projects include the Sacred Heart Cathedral, the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge, the Hardin Valley Academy and Elementary Schools, Brookview Promenade office building, the ProVision Center for Proton Therapy, Alcoa High School, the Maryville Municipal Center, South College, the Lenior City Operation Center, and numerous projects at the University of Tennessee.  Merit has been the recipient of many industry awards including 12 AGC Build Knoxville Awards, 12 Tennessee School Boards Association Awards, and 10 AIA Awards of Excellence.  Merit is not only a leader in the industry, but in AGC at all levels; local, state, and national.  They participate in training, networking, and often serve in leadership roles on boards and committees.  We are proud to have Merit Construction as a member of AGC and encourage you to get to know them!

Environmental Abatement Inc. (EAI) is our December specialty contractor in the spotlight.  EAI was organized in 1988 to contract for services in structural demolition, asbestos removal, and other environmental hazards.  Joseph H. Carver, the current CEO, has been with EAI since its beginning and is still the company’s visionary today. EAI and its leadership have deep-rooted experience and lead a team of talented individuals within all areas of their fields of expertise. They will complete your project in just the manner you, the client, expected. Our December supplier/service provider in the spotlight is Power Equipment Co.  A long-standing member of AGC of Tennessee, Power Equipment Co. offers a wide variety of both new and pre-owned equipment for construction, forestry, waste management and other industries. It is one of the largest equipment companies in the region, with 8 locations in the Mid-South, and with its sister company, Brandeis Equipment and Supply, that number doubles. Power Equipment also has repair and parts services.
