AGC West Tennessee Region is pleased to announce a partnership with the Institute for Leadership Development from Christian Brothers University School of Business that will take effect in February 2024 with next year's Construction Leadership Academy.
"Since it's inception in 2022, AGC has looked for ways to build upon what's offered during the Construction Leadership Academy (CLA) and make it worth the time and money participants take to attend the class sessions," said Robin Terry, AGC West TN Regional Director. "Our members do a great job of exposing the participants to aspects of construction they may not be as familiar with during the CLA, but we were missing the "leadership" training that is so important for young professionals in our member companies."
Instructors from the Institute for Leadership Development will teach 3 courses as part of the CLA in 2024: 1) Strengths Empowered: Igniting the Leaders Within 2) Empathetic Listening and the Art of Healthy Dialogue and 3) From Discord to Collaboration: Unleashing the Power of Constructive Conflict in the Workplace. Other sessions, taught by AGC West TN members, will deal with Safety, Advocacy, Construction Finances, The Bid Process, the chance to interact with present and past leaders of AGC, and other topics. After completing the course, participants will be awarded a Certificate in Construction Leadership by CBU, and one from AGC West TN.
Cost per student is $500, which includes all materials, registration for Day on the Hill (an optional session) and lunches or breakfasts during the course. Class size is limited to 15 students. Any student from the Class of 2022 or 2023 may attend the CBU sessions at a reduced cost of $250.
The Construction Leadership Academy would be invaluable for young professionals in our AGC companies, but because of this partnership with CBU, this CLA would be beneficial for ANY member currently in a leadership role, or one who aspires to take on a leadership role in their company! AGC believes in investing in our members, by providing this type of benefit.
