The Associated General Contractors Of Tennessee

CONSTRUCTION LEADERSHIP COUNCIL (CLC)

The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) was established to fulfill the need to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the construction industry as well as the association both at the local and national levels.  The purpose of the CLC is to act as a conduit for participants to network, exchange ideas about work and the industry, serve local communities and continuing education which includes both professional development and leadership skills.

Members of the AGC Construction Leadership Council enjoy many benefits of membership and participation. CLC is a forum that allows young professionals to develop their leadership, communication skills, and industry savvy while networking with a diverse group of individuals. Specifically, these opportunities include:

  • Networking
  • Jobsite visits
  • Professional Development
  • Continuing Education
  • Community Service

Construction Leadership Program & Education

The Construction Leadership Program was created in 2011 by Middle Tennessee construction executives and CLC board members. Its purpose is to educate young leaders on all of the facets of how a business works as well as provides leadership training and networking opportunities.

Since the first program in 2012, over 200 leaders have graduated from the program. This program consists of 13 classes, every other Friday from January-June and graduation at the August AGC membership luncheon. Seats are limited, so early registration in encouraged.

The Construction Leadership Council is dedicated to furthering the education of the young leaders in Tennessee. CLC membership affords discounts on AGC educational programs, raises money to give an annual scholarship, and has a national professional development conference hosted by the AGC of America.

Each year, the West TN Region CLC sponsors its annual Crawfish Boil, a time for members to get together and enjoy some mudbugs and networking. This event is held each spring, usually in April, at Railgarten, and is a fun way to meet other young professionals in the association. In 2019, proceeds from the annual Crawfish Boil were used to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Olivia Mellon, a leukemia patient at St. Jude. Then, in 2021, CLC partnered with Make-a-Wish MidSouth to sponsor a golf tournament that raised $6,000 to donate to the foundation.  Keep checking the website for events and activities, and other ways to get involved with Construction Leadership Council in West Tennessee!
