2011 Struck By Injury Stand Down A Success
Across the state members of the AGC of Tennessee particpated in the 2011 Struck By Injury Prevention Stand Down held on Monday, June 13th at 7:00AM. The event served to focus attention on one of the most prevalent construction accident types in the construction industry and how to prevent such accidents. The industry generally sees a rise in this type of accident during the summer months of June through August. During the stand down constuction employees were provided with specific safety training and information designed to mitigate the exposure to this type of workplace accicent. Thank you to all of those who particiapated in this important event held in conjunction with other construction industry associations from across the state and TOSHA.

Public Chapter 1149 - A Guide - Compliance Date 3/1/2011
The law requires everyone in the construction industry to be covered by workers compensation – or be specifically exempted. It reinstates the requirement that sole proprietors and partners engaged in the construction industry carry workers’ compensation insurance on themselves, but provides a mechanism for those individuals and certain other construction services providers to obtain an exemption from such requirement. AGC of America Memorandum: Warning About American General Contractors Association, Inc. Scam
The AGC of America has issued notified all Chapter Executives that the "AMERICAN GENERAL CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION, INC." is again sending a fax solicitation for a directory listing. Neither the AGC of America nor their directory provider sent this fax. The AGC of America has already sent two cease and desists letters to this company and are in discussions with their ourside lawyers regarding additional actions. If you receive a faxed solicitation, please forward a copy to the AGC of Tennessee office immediately! Do not respond to the fax or forward any money to this SCAM operation. AGC Affintity Program
